Megan Fox, a new celeb on the BPD-o-meter

Megan Fox has BPD?
Megan Fox has BPD?

Sure, she’s the hottest thing right now… Yet Megan Fox admits in a recent interview that there’s something wrong with her mentally…

‘I could end up like that because I constantly struggle with the idea that I think I’m a borderline personality – or that I have bouts of mild schizophrenia. I definitely have some kind of mental problem and I haven’t pinpointed what it is,” she aired to the mag.

Could she be the first celebrity to “come out of the closet” and admitting to having BPD? It would be nice for the BPD community if she did. Most of the celebs say they have “bipolar disorder” (or depression) if they have mental problems. I can’t think of a single one that has said they have borderline personality disorder.

I remember seeing her on Lettermen and getting the sense that there’s something up there. I’m impressed that she’s thinking about it so self-analytically.

I don’t think she’s being self-analytical at all. I saw this on another blog, which quoted an article which quoted Fox as saying she’d been studying everything about Marylin Munroe and basically (I’m paraphrasing, here) using Munroe’s stories as diagnostic tool. I think Fox needs to be encouraged to go and see a frakking shrink if she really believes something is going on, and until she says something to the effect that she’s got an “official” diagnosis, it’s not good to speculate. My guess is that she probably doesn’t know what BPD or schizophrenia are to begin with.

    WC,

You are very probably correct. I just think any star saying the words “borderline personality” as applying to his/herself is good, even if he/she doesn’t know what it really means. I am hoping people will do some research and scratch the surface. Public awareness is important.

I think that anyone who looks at themselves and suspects something is up is being self-analytical by definition. I would be impressed if my wife said something similar. It’s true that actually seeing a therapist would likely be the more effective approach.

Most of us actors (and other creative peeps) have BPD unfortunately. It´s a blessing and a curse in some ways. We just have to learn to deal with it in an accurate way. If we do; we can move frikkin mountains!

Marilyn Manson said he thinks he has it, but he’s not really a great example of how to remove stigma and increase awareness with his recent story of cutting himself 158 times to get back at his ex-girlfriend.

Well I have BPD and when I read about Megan Fox saying that she felt sometimes like she could kill her boyfriend and had major anger problems, also had done some self harm etc I immediately wondered if she also had BPD. She ought see a health professional and get a definitive diagnosis, as her impaired coping skills (or should that be non-coping skills?) are only going to get worse with time if left untreated.

And she will drive away those she cares about, leaving a horrible, lonely and painful existence.

Why doesn’t she just go to a psychologist instead of guessing at a ‘possible’ disorder before she starts telling the world she may have BPD?
There is NOTHING wonderful about this disorder, nothing to be romanticized about, i know because i have been diagnosed with it and it wrecks your life.
