Well, thanks for your input. I try to increase awareness of BPD and the issues involved, especially with respect to the Non-BP’s – the family members, spouses and friends of people with BPD. I think there is a lot of misunderstanding out there and I try my best to correct and clarify those issue. Thanks!

Thanks for your work to publicize this. I think this is a great opportunity this month to bring more attention to BPD and how much of an impact it has in our society. Like you I’m using this month to get the word out.

Jackal,

Could it be that no celebrity has come out and said “I have BPD!” There is no public face and the face in the Internet is usually a negative one. I would hope that someone would come out and say “I have BPD and it’s not that bad… it’s manageable… I’m not evil.” I think also a part of it is that BPD is considered “bad behavior” while bipolar is organic (even though BPD is probably a LOT organic too).

Glad to see BPD getting some recognition. Seems having a diagnosis of bi-polar or schizophrenia is acceptable but not so if it’s a diagnosis of BPD. I have read that BPD is considered the ‘leprosy’ of mental illness and that psychiatrists don’t treat patients with BPD but ‘survive’ them… how does that kind of attitude from so-called proferssionals help me??? It makes me even more ashamed and guilty.

Wow, if there was more recognition for bpd, maybe eventually i can stop hiding it. But i personally think they should have put “possibly inheritable” instead of “inheritable”. People who show symptoms of it may be in denial and say, “Well, it’s inherited and i have no one in my family with it, so I can’t possibly have it”.

Making a comment on my own post – hehe. I just wanted to point out that the bill says BPD is “inheritable” – wow what a leap. I hope it gets re-named and set to Axis I now.
